New Black Raspberry Patch
Admin - Monday, April 23, 2012It was a busy weekend on the farm! Mom and Vern came on Friday and we began the chore of relocating some black raspberry plants. For those of you who don't know -- Black raspberries multiply not only from seeds in the berries but also by growing long "canes" that bend over and when they touch the ground, take root . . . and multiply! So, I have quite a mess in an area where I tried to control weeds/berries by using landscape fabric . . . . I hate black plastic, but it is a farmer's friend. It warms the ground, conserves water, and keeps the weeds down . . . mostly. So 72 plants were dug up and moved . . . . I'm still tired. See the twisted chicken facebook page for pictures!
Today I put plants in the tower garden -- I had a little trouble getting the seeds to germinate in the wool rock . . . . trying something different with that -- will get pictures posted soon.
